Election Results
At last months meeting we had our annual officer elections. Well the results are in and there’s a new sheriff in town. So saddle up those ponies y’all cause the winners are:
of the Board
Lets all congratulate the new Board of Directors and wish them well in 1999. Look for Ross’s personal message on page 2 of this newsletter and throughout the year.
We need your Vote!
At the February meeting we’ll be voting on two important issues. First, to change our meeting location, as discussed at the January meeting, we need to vote to change a section of the clubs Bylaws. Second, we need to vote on if we want to pay the $50 fee to enter 8 cars in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
The specific issues are show below.
Issue #1
Should the wording of Standing Rule Section 1 be changed from
"The regular monthly business meeting shall be held at 6:30 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month at Maggie Mae’s Restaurant, 2405 East Pikes Peak Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado."
To read
"The regular monthly business meeting shall be held at 6:30 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month"
If this vote passes, we’ll be able to change our meeting location as discussed last month.
Issue #2
Should the Rocky Mountain Mustangers pay $50 in order to have an 8-car entry in the Old Colorado City St. Patrick’s Day Parade?
Place your votes at this months club meeting, Saturday, February 20.
Ross’s Rants and Raves
By Ross Shwyhart
Hi & welcome to the first installment of Ross’s Rants & Raves!
Here it is the month of February already and things are right with the world! The Broncos win back to back superbowls, a FORD powered Dyson R and S CanAm car wins the Rolex 24 Hours of Dayton outright, and last but not least a MUSTANG placed 28th overall winning GTT class. Good stuff. Football season is over and racing season start.
For those of you who don’t know me allow me to introduce myself. I’m a certifiable car nut. I have been since was 2 and could tell the difference between a ’49 and a ’50 Ford. I’m true to the Blue Oval due to the fact that there has been a Ford of one form or another in my family since right after WWI. I must admit that I have owned a few of the General’s cars in my life though. My Mustangs are fulfilling a dream that I had when I was 16. I’m a bit of a departure from the norm for the club since I am the first president that owns a ‘late model’ as my only Mustang.
Have you ever had this happen to you? My ‘83 convertible is rather rare. While in Salida last fall I saw another ‘83 GT convertible so I found the driver in the restaurant and tried to talk to her about the car. Seems it was her daughter’s and her husband was the Mustang nut of the family. I gave her my name and address and never heard from them. Please remember that when people ask about your car it’s because they are interested in it. After all we do drive a legend.
Did you know that if your car has spent time in Colorado that you can have a title search done? Contact the Department of Motor Vehicle Division, 140 W. Sixth Street Denver CO 80204. 303-572-5607 is the phone number. The cost is $6.60 per owner in the history of the title. $6.60! How does the state come up with these figures? Thanks to the So. Co. Mopars for this tip.
For those of you who missed it the inter-car club bowling challenge you missed a real fun time. The Pikes Peak AMC club edged us out by a couple of people but we had some good close bowling. RMM averaged 121 for the 3 games to 106 for the PPAMC. Thanks to all of you who showed up. I hope to see more of you this month on the 27th. Good thing for me that points were not given for style or I would have been in the hole. I would like to thank the PPAMC also.
As you may have seen in the paper. Cheyenne Mountain is no longer having tours. I guess they don’t want us to see how our tax dollars are really being spent. So I say how ‘bout meeting at Gunther Toodie’s on Wednesday February 24th for a club burger night?
I will have Round up registration forms and shirts at the meeting. I have 6 large T shirts, 6 X-large T shirts, 1 large sweat shirt, 1 X-large sweat shirt, 1 large denim shirt, and 1 X-large denim shirt. The prices are $15 for T-shirts, $25 for sweatshirts, and $35 for the denim shirts. So bring your checkbook.
Speaking of the Round up this year’s event is shaping up to be one of the biggest and best ever. We have already sold out our block of rooms at the host hotel.
Ford’s SVT division is bringing more things this year and 2 registries - the SVO and Boss 302 have made this a national event! We have even had a club from Texas call stating that they were coming with 20 cars!
Looking to the future there several things that the board and I discussed to do for club events such as going to the Royal Gorge, the Shelby museum, a trip to Denver to the drive in movie. We would like your input on what you want to do. As I said in my little speech last month I believe in driving my cars so I want to do lots of cruising type things. See upcoming events for things coming up.
I’m hoping that this year will be a fun and productive one for you and the club. To that end I will work hard to see that we have fun events to partake in. Remember this is your club. You are the one that pays $20 to join. You are the one that can come up with things that you would like to do. Participation in events is the best way to have fun and to get to know your fellow club members.
I hope to see you at the meeting… Ross
Burger with a Buddy
This months cruise event will be at Gunther Toodies, our local Fifty’s style dinner. Good eats and good fun to be had by all.
We’ll meet up at Gunther Toodies (Academy Blvd, South of Austin Bluffs) on Wednesday February 24 at 6:30 PM for a bite to eat.
Bring out your Mustang and have a bite. See ya there.
First Annual-Inter Car Club Bowling Challenge
We all had a great time at last months first bowling event. Many Mustangers and AMC club members showed up to down some pins. The scores were close but the Mustangers took the first round as we averaged 121 for the 3 games to 106 for the PPAMC
Our next scheduled meet is for 7PM, Saturday, February 27. The location is Peak Bowling Center 2861 North Prospect (two blocks south of Filmore). The cost is $2 per game plus shoe rental if you don’t have your own. The March event is set for Saturday, March 27. Come on out and throw a few with your fellow Mustangers.
Eat and Bowl
This month Peak Bowling Center is offering us a special deal… Three games, shoes, and a Mexican meal for $11.99. What a deal! Come by the meeting this month and let us know if you’re interested so we can pass it along to Peak Bowl.
