Election of Officers
This month we will be electing our club officers for 1999. Please plan to attend our general meeting so we can usher in the New Year by electing our Board of Directors. This year’s nominees are:
Remember, to vote you must be present and you must have paid your dues for 1999.
Payment of 1999 Dues
Even if you can’t attend the general meeting this month, please make sure you get your dues in on time. Let’s all help keep our club running smoothly for the coming year.

New Web Site Address
Beginning in 1999 we have a new location for our web site. The new web address is
http://www.mustangers.com/This new address is a lot easier to remember and to tell others about our presence on the internet. For now, our email address will stay the same, Mustangers@PciSys.net. Log on, have fun, and tell a friend.
New Club Raffle Coordinators
Al & Sue Alberg will be taking over the club’s monthly raffle activities for 1999. Many thanks Al & Sue for the extra effort to support the Mustangers club. We look forward to some interesting goodies this year.
The club would also like to thank Dick & Debbie Collins for past efforts taking care of the raffle prizes for 1998.
Newsletter Changes
You’ve probably noticed a new look to our newsletter. Well that’s because you’re very observant and because it’s been completely changed. The torch has been passed and Richard Massey is now the Official Newsletter Editor for 1999.
In a mad dash to get this letter put together, I may have missed something important (because I slacked off over the holidays), so please let me know if you notice any omissions in this month Newsletter. I will be soliciting input from officers and club members throughout the year. I can be reached at junebug@pcisys.net via email. If contributors can submit softcopy via email it would really help me out. Look for many changes to come during 1999.
The club would like to thank Gretchen Richardson for all her efforts in putting the Newsletter out for the past several years.
A Message From The President
By John McKnire
Hi Mustangers!
Happy New Year to everyone and best wishes for getting what you want in this new year, Maybe a Shelby or a Cobra, Yea, we can dream. 1998 was a good year even thought there were some rough times for some. It’s just good to be here in beautiful country.
Travel Tails
Claudia and I went to Scottsdale, AZ in mid December and Ron Kay had told me about the Pavilion, which was listed in one of the Mustang Monthly magazines as one of the top 10 cruise spots in the nation. We made it a point to leave here on Friday afternoon so we could arrive in Scottsdale in time to go to the Saturday nite cruise. It was GREAT! Almost like going to a full fledged car show. Everyone was laid back and friendly. Good people to visit with and talk about Mustangs. (There were 3 "real" Shelby’s there"). The weather was in the 70’s and they had a good turn out. Sure wish I could have had my car there.
Always wishing!!!
New Candidates
Thanks to all the new candidates who are running for office. Be sure to come to the January meeting and vote. Remember that your dues must be paid to vote for the new officers. We have some great people running this year. It will be a hard decision on who to vote for. Those running for office this year include the following people: Ross Shwyhart, Neil Case, Tony Farinaro, Bob Syrotchen, Mike Spoelman, and Al Alberg. However you vote, you can’t go wrong as all of these people have what it takes to lead the Rocky Mountain Mustangers.
Thanks to the nominating committee for their work in calling everyone and getting people to run for office. That takes some work.
My thanks to everyone who voted for me last year. I had some real tough competition and didn’t really expect to be president. It’s been a pleasure to serve in 1998.
I wish we could have done more cruises through the year. It is a lot of fun to get together with other people and meet new members. A note to new members, don’t feel "left out" if you do not have a car in "show condition". We want all of you to come and be a part of the club. Attend events, make suggestions, and we all will reap the benefits.
See you on the road,
Look for the green Boss.

Mustang Museum
Atlanta or Orlando
The list of potential sites for the long-awaited Mustang museum – The Mustang Experience – has come down to these two popular southern tourist-oriented cities.
These two cities are the lone survivors from the original list of 25 possible site candidates. The decision was based on many factors, but one primary reason was the need for year-round tourist traffic.
Recognizing the need to reach out to the general public as well as Mustang enthusiasts, museum authorities stated that the museum needs 300,000 to 350,000 visitors per year to be successful. The final site announcement is scheduled to be made in April, 1999.
Ford Division recently announced the donation of $1.5 million toward the Mustang Museum’s development program.
First Annual Inter-Car Club Bowling Challenge
The Pikes Peak AMC club has challenged us - The Rocky Mountain Mustangers - to a best 2 out of 3 bowl off. We have scheduled for the fourth Saturday of January, February, and March. The dates are January 23, February 27, and March 27. We will be starting at 7:00 PM. The location is Peak Bowling Center 2861 North Prospect (two blocks south of Filmore). The cost is $2 per game plus shoe rental if you don’t have your own.
Each club will field equal teams. The grand total for each club will be the highest score of the three games bowled, with the winner being the club with the highest total. The Great Grand Prize for the winning club is yet to be determined. If after the first two meetings, one club has won, then the March gathering will be a boys .vs. girls fun bowl.
Lets show them that the club that represents the car that started the Pony car revolution can out bowl the club that represents…. Well, let us say it is best know for bringing reclining seats to us!

Possible Change of Meeting Location
Some club members have been kicking around the idea of moving our meeting place to somewhere more suitable for our meeting activities.
Maggies’s has been a main stay for many years, but perhaps as the millenium approaches it’s time to move on to another meeting place. Some ideas discussed include finding a location with TV / Video capabilities, some different food, and a more central location.
Possibilities discussed and researched so far include: Old Chicago’s at Academy & Austin Bluffs. This location has a meeting room large enough to accommodate 50 club members, they have two TV / VCR’s available and they could provide a fixed menu of Beer, Pizza, Beer, Burgers, Beer, and Salads. They also have Beer. Those interested could also shoot some pool after the meeting in their game room.
Another location mentioned is Phil Long Ford. If a meeting room is available we could gather in this location. Further investigation is underway.
Other possibilities include Tony Roma’s (but then where would be go for our Annual Christmas Party?)
Any location change we make would have to be voted on by members present at a general meeting, since Maggie Mae’s is written into the Club’s Bylaws.
Suggestions? Come to the meeting to give us your ideas and vote on this issue. Or call an officer or club member to discuss the issue.
Stay tuned for more info…
Bring a friend
For 1999, bring a Mustang friend to our meetings. Let’s boost our membership as we move toward the coming millenium.
Happy New Year to one and all for 1999.
